this is a comment from JoshQuasimoto responding to the article in the HuffingtonPost

"Great map, Tana and an even better idea. It would always seem that here in the South that the public is given very little time in which to discuss the DOT corridor plans before implementation. That said their are grassroots organizations whi keep a relatively close eye on things but down here we had to shut down our current GOV plans to build the beginnings of the "NAFTA" superhighway. Of course, calling it that is a little ambigious as it would seem the biggest issues facing the Trans Texas corridor was the simple fact that farmers were pushed off their land and the building and maintenence was going to be held under a number of years to a foreign contractor on toll lanes. It took a lot of diligent public outcry to get Perry and his benefactors to stop their plans. Building rail in Texas needs to happen and I beleive will transform our culture given a couple of decades. Our auto industry will contract and hopefully become more competitive like the american steel industry. Building these rail lines will create jobs and bring the people whom they employ closer to the environment they live and work."
